In April, Snowflake released exciting features including general availability of Account Replication and the Snowflake Connector for Django on Snowflake Labs. Read on to learn about these enhancements and more.
Account Replication expands replication beyond databases – general availability
Account Replication, now generally available, expands replication beyond databases to account metadata and integrations, making business continuity truly turnkey. Paired with Client Redirect, users are able to recover their account and client connections in seconds, at virtually any scale. For even higher resiliency, these features can be used to perform failover across public clouds. Databases, shares, role-based access control, governance policies, compute resources, network policies, and all forms of user authentication—including password, federated authentication with single sign-on (SSO), and OAuth—failover seamlessly. Using a few commands, administrators can specify what to replicate and where, and Snowflake takes care of the rest. Learn more here.
Timed Trials for paid listings – general availability
Timed Trials allow providers of paid listings to set a specific time window during which consumers can sample the product provided in the listing at no charge. Once their trial time window ends, the consumer will lose access to the listing content and be prompted to purchase the listing. Snowflake Connector for Django on Snowflake Labs
The Snowflake Connector for Django is now available on Snowflake Labs. This integration provides Django apps easy access to data within the Snowflake Data Cloud without manually integrating against API endpoints. Now Python developers can easily and quickly build web applications that access Snowflake data by leveraging the Django framework. Django is a popular, high-level Python open source web framework for building robust, scalable, and maintainable web applications quickly and easily. By combining the power of the Snowflake Data Cloud with the ease of use of Django, developers can build sophisticated web applications that deliver powerful insights to end users. Search Optimization and Query Acceleration Compatibility – general availability
Search optimization can prune the micro-partitions that are not needed for a query, while query acceleration can offload parts of the remaining work to shared compute resources provided by the service for some queries. By combining the Search Optimization Service with Query Acceleration Service, customers will be able to see enhanced performance on more of their queries. Learn more.
